Roland Sackville sat in a jail cell.

Not that the police officers knew that -- Vito West was the name on the identification, and the fingerprints matched and everything, so that's who they had booked down for unlawful possession of an offensive implement. As well as destruction of property, though how he had managed to sink a boat eluded them at the moment, and Vito swore up and down he had no idea how it happened. Add in the various contraband the Russian smugglers were carrying, and really, he was doing rather better than the other people in the jail, as they awaited Major Crimes.

It wasn't long before a certain redhead, still dressed in her office attire, pulled up a folding chair across from his cell.

"So."

She didn't seem very amused.

I've long since learned that the 'truth' is malleable - that it's written by whoever sticks around long enough to say it is. And what's the 'truth' one day is washed away the next.

"Alright. I contacted these particular Russian gentlemen some time ago, about retrieving some of my possessions and bringing them into the country. You must understand, that many of these possessions are quite old, and difficult to prove ownership of. They are mine, nothing stolen.

"Well, most of the goods came in alright. The last batch I went to pick up at the London docks had...problems. Issues over money already paid and money to be paid in the future. See, I think they got it into their heads that what I had was worth more than I was telling them, for some reason. I eventually had to set up a meeting here to try to get the last essential crate, and I called in...a few old friends to help ensure the transaction went...smoothly."
