Issue 1 Downtime

After a brief misunderstanding over John's lack of footwear, the two were seated under the branches of a small potted tree draped with a string of lights.

"Very nice," bear remarked, looking up at the tree and skylight beyond.

Bear smiled warmly back. And Scales was her new affectionate nickname for John, it seems.

The menus came and their waitress departed once again with a promise to return shortly.

"So... year two huh? How the hell did the last one go by so fast?"

"I'm not sure.. I've got my chemistry degree, hopefully. And I love being an X-Man.. I really want to do a lot more traveling, for sure."

"The microverse?" he asked curiously. He had a idea of what it was, but wasn't sure why anyone would want to go there.

John smiled as the waitress returned for their orders. He ordered a steak and their best bottle of wine.

Bear ordered a balsamic chicken salad, sat back, admiring the decor.

"This is a really nice, place, John." She remarked, contentedly.

Their smalltalk continued until the food arrived. John thanked the waitress as she left.

"Smells delicious," he smiled.

Afterwards, she sipped a cup of tea thoughtfully.
