Issue 1 Downtime

Wanda stooped through the door to get into the Rose, looking around for a table since she sincerely doubted she'd fit into a booth. Spotting one, she made her way over towards it, glancing over her shoulder unnecessarily to make sure Rachel saw where she was headed. "So what's up first?"

"I vote for food and tasty beverages, followed by more tasty beverages."

"Sounds good to me," Wanda said, going up to the bar and getting their drinks and ordering food, returning with the drinks.

"Aaaah." Rachel said, taking a sip "very tasty."

"So tell me about Ryan," Wanda said, taking a sip of her own drink.

"What about him?" Rachel asked.

"Anything you feel like sharing? Sorry, I'm not very good at this," she said with a chuckle. "I mean, I know he's cute with the wings and all, but what's he really like?"

"He's really nice." Rachel said "Sweet, and a lot smarter, and a lot more vulnerable than he wants everyone to think." she giggled "and the sex is amazing."

"Sounds like you're really firing on all cylinders then," Wanda said with a giggle of her own.

"Hey girls," Stephanie smiled, walking up to the table. "Got room for another chick from Mutie U?"

"Sure, have a seat." Rachel said with a grin "What are you drinking?"

"Thanks," she smiled, taking the offered seat and setting her drink on the table. "Long Island. Just got mine, so I'm fine for now. How's the start of the school year going?"

"So far, so good." Rachel said "Classes are good, love life is better. How about you?"

"Oh you're the one Gabriel keeps going on about, aren't you?" she grinned. "He's a good guy. We're working together this year on the introductory power control class....which is a bit tougher than I imagined. First few classes probably weren't interactive enough but...I dunno, you need to go over some basics and get them in the right headspace so it's not 'let's screw around with our powers and not learn anything 101,' you know?"

She took a sip of her drink and chuckled. "I'm half tempted to fake a power freak out just to keep their attention. There's a kid with a lot of cybernetic implants that I'm fairly sure is texting mentally throughout the entire class, and Mr. Gabriel has a not-so-secret admirer who doesn't do much other than stare dreamily at him."

"Yeah, I noticed that at the party." Rachel said, smiling a little when Steph mentioned Ryan talking about her "She seems nice, but yeah, needs to find someone her own age."

"Were we that unsubtle just a few years ago?" She laughed.

"God, I hope not." Rachel laughed "I don't remember any of my teachers being that hot, though. Well, except for Ms. Frost, and she is scary as shit."

"I met her once, I don't scare easily, and even I was intimidated," she laughed.

"Yeah, and its even scarier when you can touch her mind and realize that she really is like that."

"I've only ever seen her on news footage and such. I'll count myself among the intimdated. The nerve to show that much skin if nothing else..."

"yeah, for real." Rachel said "Its an effective distraction, though."

"I'd probably be more comfortable when shifted if I made my x outfit more like hers," she chuckled. "You're a teep then?".

"Yeah." Rachel said, not wanting to get into the whole explanation.

"Have you considered volunteering your services for our power control class?" she chuckled. "I hate to bring up work while drinking but we could probably use a private tutor--at least once in a while--for aforementioned short blonde. And you'd also be able to remind her that Mr. Gabriel is a boring old man not at all like her who has a girlfriend already.

"I'd be willing to give it a shot." Rachel said "I could at least help her with the basics."

"That'd be huge. Having someone our age who can help her would be great. My area of expertise benefits no one," she chuckled. "Not a single shifter in the class."

"Huh, weird." Rachel said "I'm surprised there isn't at least one."

"So was I. Need to have Murphy bite one of the ones that give us trouble in class, I guess." she laughed.

"She can pass it on?" Rachel said "How does that work?"

"It's not her mutant power. She's a real werewolf. Yeah. They exist, apparently." she smirked.

"Huh." Rachel said "I don't know why that surprises me."

"Hang out with us Xavier's kids enough and you'll never be surprised by anything," she smirked.

"I've been learning that via crash course."

"Yeah. Everyone does," she grinned. "We're honestly overdue for an explosion on the grounds. Really wish I was joking."

"People keep telling me that, but it seems quiet so far."

"Give it time," she chuckled.

"There seemed to be a fair bit going on this summer."

"Well, hopefully it'll stay calm." Rachel said

"Well I certainly hope so. Especially for the high school kids. I feel like having us all in one spot is going to exponentially increase our potential to attract trouble."
