Theresa was filling out various forms with the university logo on them. She frowned at one, apparently contemplating an answer, while munching on her evening meal.

Graham stepped up, started to ask for permission to sit at the table, but shut his mouth before words came out. The teenager took a seat, deciding asking was dumb with a nearly empty table. A noise that might have been "hey" escaped him.

"Thinking of the future isn't the sort of thing we high schoolers generally do until we have to," she said with a chuckle. "Which is sort of how it should be."
