Issue 1 Downtime

A quick trip for some temporary tops in Miranda's size had yielded some things, even though it wasn't at all the right season for them. Now, Miranda was dressed in a black top and nervous as hell as she knocked on Kay's door.

"Oh! Just a sec!" There"s some rummaging around and after a bit Kay opens the door. "Hey, whaaaat the heck, are those wings?"

"Ummm... yeah," she said sheepishly, not sure how to read the reaction. "Was practicing telepathy with Mum and something weird happened."

"You like them?" Miranda sounded a little relieved.

"Duh! Why wouldn't I? Do they work? Can you fly with them?"

"I haven't tried. Still getting used to their weight. Mom says flying lessons will be in order if they hang around. They're certainly big enough," She spread the wings out, maybe showing off just a little bit.

"That's so awesome!" she says, waling around Miranda and taking a closer look at the feathers. "They're all blueish iridescent if you look closely..."

"They're raven feathers. Well, Miranda feathers technically I guess, but they're like a raven's. Don't be surprised if you see Mum with a pair as well. She's 'wearing them in solidarity.'"

"I'm glad you like it. I was kind of worried." She folded her wings back in, trying to hold them like Nailah had shown her.

"Why wouldn't I like them? They're beautiful!" sh says, carefully running a finger over one of the larger feathers.

She smiles and runs her hand over Miranda's wing again.

"Ooh, those small ones are super fluffy."

Miranda giggles again, "Yeah. I've shed a few. I'm still figuring out how to sleep with the wings. A lot of sleeping on my stomach."

"Hmm, yeah, that seems like it'd be kinda awkward..." she says, totally not distracted by her hand running through Miranda's downy feathers at all.

"Let me show you something I've been practicing," she said, turning around and wrapping Kay up in her arms before folding her wings forward around the two of them.

Kay closes her eyes and just about melts as she returns the kiss.

After the kiss, Miranda folds her wings back against her back. "Since I can't wear my hoods anymore," she said, "there's something you should probably see."

"You don't have to if you don't want to..." she says, figuring she's talking about her eyes or the lack thereof.

"I can't wear this all the time," she said, touching the binding around her eyes. "And if you're staying with over Christmas, you'll more than likely have to see me with it off. But we should probably do it somewhere private."

Kay closes the door behind her. Inside it looks like Kay had been working on something that she hurriedly shoved under the covers of the bed.

Miranda politely ignores whatever it is Kay doesn't want her to see. She turns to face Kay, reaching up to untie the binding around her eyes. "I'll let you take it off. That way you can go as fast or as slow as you need to."

"Okay..." she says, carefully reaching up and slowly pulling the blindfold away.

The scarring was bad and was all around where her eyes would have been. The scarring even covered where her eyes should have been. "It's pretty bad," she said, "but something you needed to see."

Kay nods, which feels strange when looking at somebody without eyes.

"It's... pretty bad. Like, I wanna say it's not but I don't wanna lie to you..."
