She's not running away form me, is she? Nailah doubts herself as she walks down the hallway and gently knocks on the door.

The sound in the room dies briefly. Finally, there's a quiet "You can come in, Mom."

"Is everything alright?" she asks carefully, cracking the door.

There were a couple of possible futures where Miranda attempted to lie to Nailah, but apparently Miranda discarded them. "No." She was sitting on her bed, her books spread out in front of her.

"We kind of ambushed you with what happened in the Danger Room there, didn't we?" she asks, sitting down next to her.

"It's not that," she said, looking at her history homework. "I'm not sure how to explain it."

She mulled that over. "It just felt... wrong."

"Mum changing it, sort of... I don't know. Words aren't working with me."

"Something about Sam changing it didn't feel quite right?"

She nodded slowly, biting her lip a little.

"There's nothing bad about that. I don't particularly like that program either. Too many individual bits and pieces that could go one way or the other. I don't know how she makes any sense of it."

"I understand how she does... but manipulating both sides..."

"If it were me, yes." She was quiet for a moment, "But I'm not the Morrigan, so I suppose she can do what she wants."

She looked like she was contemplating explanation, but finally settled on "Yes."

Miranda didn't seem to have much to say to that, so she settled for a surprisingly teenage response and shrugged.

"Well, if you want we can talk about that with Sam, but if you don't want to that's alright. I just wanted to make sure you're alright. Want me to leave you to your homework?" she asks, putting her hand on Miranda's back.

She nodded. "It's not much." The scented water looked freshly changed and actually lent a nice smell to the room.

Miranda can sense the presence of unseen ravens. Not in the room, but just outside in the hallway.

It's as if they're respecting boundaries.

"How's she doing?" Comes a thought to Nailah.
