Issue 1 Downtime

Alex sat in the common room, not really watching the TV that was playing. Everything about the day was playing through his head, from the history lesson to the fight to the boat sinking to... Hell. How bad did I mess up?

"Hey," Steve said as he sat down on the couch, "Whatcha watching?"

"Huh, oh, just..." he looked at the TV and saw that it was a commercial. "Shit. I don't know. Wasn't really watching, you can drive if you want."

"Well we followed our teacher during classtime and ended up getting shot at in something that probably wasn't legal, since he was all 'get the fuck out before cops get here!' So I'm pretty sure they're all in CYA mode right now."

"Please, you kidding me? All you did was sit on a dock, as far as anyone can prove. I was pounding internationals with an aluminum fist. My mom's probably going to have conniptions about international incidents and liability and tort reform and whatever the fuck it is lawyers would say about this."

Brigid wandered into the room. Spotting Alex, she gave him a small wave.

"If any of those dumb video shows get it and it wins any money, my mom's a lawyer. I'm getting that damn cash," he said with a grin. Seeing Brigid he seemed... both hesitant and happy, sitting up and making room for her.

And that was around the time Kay comes down the stairs and walks into the common-room with Theresa. When she sees everyone sitting on the couch she stops for a moment and glances at Theresa as if to ask "Now?"
