Issue 1 Downtime

Grudgingly Kay makes her way to the library after class, hood pulled into her face, sleeves hanging well past her hands she shuffles in with her backpack slung over one shoulder.

Kay just trots past him and sits down at one of the tables and pulls out a new sketchbook, seeing how her old one was still missing.

Steve walked in and sat down with an angry sigh.

Haley walked in with a scowl, dropped her bag unceremoniously on the floor next to her chosen seat and sat silently.

Cal walked in, looking bad-tempered, setting down a pack that gave a metallic rattle as he took the seat next to Haley. "This is bullshit," he muttered.

"Alright, then. I understand some of you already have assignments to work on during this detention," Tommy said, looking at Cal.

"For the rest of you. Three page essay, how a historic event would have been different had one of the key players been a mutant. Handwritten, both sides."

Kay nods and turns the sketch of a giant chicken being skewered she's working on into a giant chicken being skewered by a Teddy Roosevelt with wolverine claws.

Cal looked down at his cybernetic hand, then back up at Tommy. "Detention isn't the worst that can happen. Wow. Total news to me." He shook his head as he started, in his head, typing up an appology.

I suppose that it isn't your faults that they've assigned you the task of encouraging teenagers to engage in self-destructive behavior, and so it's wrong of me to take it out on you...

Meanwhile, he reached into his backpack, first pulling out a small screen that showed what he was typing, blurred out so that all that could be seen was progress. Then he reached in for the next segment of the power staff and a small tool set.

"Fine, I'll get to work," Regan says, hovering above a desk before taking out a ghostly pad of paper and a pen, "How do you spell your name? Also, 'inbred'?"

Cal nodded, rolling his eyes again as he started writing the appology by hand, now plain for anyone to see just how sarcastic it was.

Cal, meanwhile, reached back into his pack and pulled out the piece of the staff he'd brought to work on. "Probably doesn't really lock. They're seeing what we'll do or some shit like that," he said.

Haley was used to this from back home, so she kept her head down and tried not to groan about the topic.

I bet Sackville picked this out as punishment...weirdo.

She chewed on the end of her pen for a moment in thought, and then started writing. She made it about half way down the page before their supervisor left.

"You know, if we dick around in here, we're just going to wind up spending more time together in here, something I'd like to avoid," she sighed, looking around the room.
