Issue 1 Downtime

Word had spread fast that the rescue mission had returned and so Theresa checked the dorms first to see if Kay had headed there. Being impatient and not finding her within around thirty seconds, Theresa was in the common room and getting ready to head towards the medical center.

Which was when Kay tried her best to sneak in. Dirty hoodie pulled over her head she doesn't even notice Theresa sitting there at first.

Theresa, however, noticed her. After taking a good look to make sure she wasn't about to be an absolute fool of herself, she jumped up and ran to hug Kay. "You're back! Brigid and I were so worried."

"Resa!" she gets out before the hug knocks the air out of her a little.

"I-I'm fine."

"You're fine? Is that why you're... you know what, nevermind that. I'm just happy you're back." Theresa gave her another hug.

"It... it was really just like a camping trip. T-totally fine. Just walked through a forest a bit..." she mumbles, wincing a bit at the hug.

Theresa frowned at the wince, "I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I can tell when something's wrong. Come on, let's get you a hot shower and then you can hide in my room."

"Okay..." she says, following Theresa. "And thanks." she adds after a moment.

Theresa gave her a huge smile, "It's what I'm here for." After swinging past Theresa's room to grab what Theresa described as "the best smelling shampoo you will ever use", Theresa waited outside while Kay washed up. "You want me to throw these clothes in the wash?"

After spending what seems like an eternity in the shower Kay comes out, wrapped up in a bathrobe. With the lack of a hood it'd be obvious that the gills on her neck look much more prominent than they used to.

"Y-yeah. Or possibly the trash." she tries to joke.

Theresa picked them up and looked at them, "Yeah, trash might be wise, but we can try to save them." Her gaze obviously passed over the gills, but she just turned, "So you go chill in my room and I'll be back in a minute. Make yourself comfortable."

She nods and does just that, sitting down on the couch and pulling her legs up to her chest under the robe.

After a bit, Theresa came back and rummaged in her desk for a moment, pulling out a bag of tiny chocolate bars and some things that looked suspiciously like Pixy Stix. She dropped down on the couch beside Kay and offered her the bag. "Care for a cure-all?"

"Oh god, yes!" she says, tearing into one of the candy bars. "I'm starved..."

"This should hold you over until you feel like going to get some proper food," Theresa said, dropping the bag between them and contemplating the Pixy Stix.

"I think I'm gonna be a vegetarian for a while. Couple years should do."

There was a knock at the door.

"Theresa, I'm going to check at the medical center to see how Kay's doing. You want to come along?"

Theresa looked at Kay to see if Kay wanted her to invite Brigid in.

Brigid opened the door, a broad smile on her face.

"Oh my god, they let you out already?"

"I found her coming into the dorms, brought her up here and got her washed up," Theresa said. "Now we're just snacking."

"Well no but... I dunno... I'm not even sure why he dragged me there. Maybe as a snack for one of the others..."

"Probably for the best not to dwell on that," Theresa commented, tearing the top off one of the Pixy Stix and tilting some of the contents into her mouth.

"Some crazy guy put us into cages and there was this weird fog. We were let out but it was jsut forest and then everyone went nuts... Almost everyone. Even our power tutor and Miss Weaver... Chloe killed some deer or something and, like, ate a chunk of it..." she babbles.

"Yeah... Chloe and me ran away mostly and I hid in a river... Some of the people started getting weird." she says awkwardly. "Miss Weaver was huge and on all fours when they knocked her out..."
