Issue 1 Downtime

Cal wasn't as rested as usual, but it had been worth it, he decided. He sat down to breakfast, deciding to see what was going on before he got back into the usual dull routine. And for him, that naturally meant making a broad-frequency scan of all the radio and internet/network chatter to see what was new today, both in the news and much more locally.

"Hey hottie," Haley smiled, plopping down right next to Cal

"Hey, gorgeous," he said with a grin. "Someone's looking perky this morning," he teased.

"I'm not the only on...oh holy shit what did I do to your neck," she said covering her mouth with her hand and stifling a laugh.

"Yeah, at least I was nice enough to keep it on your shoulder," he said, smirking as he gave the shoulder of her shirt a little tug. "Oh, except right... yeah, I guess I didn't. Too bad."

"Yeah...I had to get creative with some make up this morning," she smirked.

Cal's scan of the feeds would note a minor level of controlled panic -- and the fact that his power training course was cancelled for the day.

"Eh, let people see and be jealous," he said with a smirk.

well well, what's this? "Huh. No power control today," he remarked as he dug a little more to try to find what all the panic was about, looking for how long it was going on.

"Really?" she asked, a bit disappointed.

"Yeah, it's cancelled," Cal said, his mood seeming to sour a bit. Smooth move, jackass, you had to ruin it...

"Oh shut up you didn't ruin an....shit. Sorry." she apologized. "Gotta stop doing that...well maybe we can go study together somewhere with our newfound time off?"

"Yeah, if you want," Cal said, retreating a bit into the datafeed.

Also, the literature classes were cancelled.

And the Point had been restricted to X-Team personnel only, so danger room access was restricted.

"They say why the classes were cancelled?"

"No, but something's up. Lit classes are canceled too, and they're digging in at the Point. Huh... weird..."

"Something must be up. Shit I hope everyone is okay...."

"Yeah, I know," Cal said, trying to make himself care a little more. Or actually be worried that the Mighty X-Men wouldn't do their usual 'save the world with massive property damage' thing. "Oh well... maybe all the classes will get cancelled, then? That'd be kind of cool." Not that, you know, he ever did more than use a remote access to view most of his classes and use a program to collate the information into a little database for later use.

"As long as we don't get attacked here too...man...they weren't kidding about this place attracting trouble."

"Yeah, I dunno, I think it'd be sort of dumb for anyone to come here. I mean... talk about asking for trouble. Hey, great idea, come attack the school where everyone over thirteen has a freaky superpower and can melt your bones or something."

"Didn't stop that Apocalypse asshole and his douchebag cronies,"

"Well yeah, but that was a special kind of crazy that thought you were going to join him, right?"

"Well...yeah I guess that was what he said...but still basically an attack. Who would join a nutjob like him,"

"Yeah, working for crazies is just an early severance in the making," Cal quipped. "Now... evil geniuses? That's different."

"It's different when were the evil geniuses...geni?" She laughed.

"Evil geniuses don't need language classes," Cal scoffer with a smirk.

"This is true," she giggled.

"Just need to know how to translate 'Bow, mortals!' into a few major languages," he said, nodding.

"I'm sure we can get a few translators. If our stunning good looks don't convince them, then I'll figure out how to use my tk to do it."

"What do global tyrants wear?" Cal wondered out loud.

"Whatever the hell they want. We could rule naked. But maybe we just need really sexy military uniforms. I'd look good in a beret and miniskirt, don't you think?"

Cal gave her an appraising once over. "You... definitely would," he confirmed, the (detailed, computer-generated) mental images making him blush. "'Course, that's fighting with the 'ruling naked' thing in my head right now..."

"Oh, like that idea?" she grinned mischievously.

I do have a few really short skirts...maybe I should send him some pictures...

"Oh, let's see, you're crazy hot, and I'm male. Yup, definitely a fan of that idea."

"I'll see what I can do to make the military uniform happen," she grinned.

Would probably be easier to just make the other idea happen though...

"Well, you could shoot for both," he pointed out, 'innocently'.

Haley smirked and gave him a playful slap on the cheek. "Now I'm just gonna start dressing like I'm Amish around you."

"I'd take that as a threat if I actually thought that you had any clothes like that."

"I'll just steal some from my Amazon roommate. She's bigger than most dudes so her shirts would probably cover me head to toe."

Cal thought about it for a minute. "So just the shirt?" he countered.

"Nope. I'd wear jeans," she smirked.
