Haley/Brigid - The middle of the night

Haley bolted upright, clutching her covers to her chin, and barely stifling a scream.
Another nightmare.
Her new home was old and creepy and every horror movie she'd ever seen seemed like it could've been been just as easily set right here. Her tiny frame shuddered and she started to cry silently, pulling her knees up to her chest and leaning against the wall.

"God, go back to sleep..." Brigid mumbled drowsily from the top bunk.

"Fuck off," she said quietly, trying (poorly) to hide the sound of crying in her voice. Still, she tried to calm herself in the dark, still room.

"I'm sorry," she practically whimpered, tears threatening to roll down her face again. "Just leave me alone and go back to sleep."

"Whatever," she grumbled and rolled over, pulling the covers over herself.

Haley pulled out a small, worn teddy bear from underneath her pillow and hugged it tightly as she finally laid back down, wiping her face with the back of her hand, and staring at the wall, now completely awake.

And as Haley stared, there was a faint vibration, almost a hum.

Fucking creepy old house...
Haley closed her eyes, exhaled slowly and tried to go to sleep again.

Slowly, the sound of the hum crept back in. This time, she could hear almost musical tones mingled in its faint sounds.

what the hell is this? Haley sat up and looked around. Was one of their computers on? A phone vibrating somewhere? Haley squinted around the dark room and tried to pick out the music's source.

Haley regarded the wall curiously, her heart pounding nervously as she put her ear to the wall.

It took awhile for Haley to realize that she wasn't quite... "hearing" the noise. It was more like when she read minds. She knew it was coming from the wall. There was no telling how. Not something on the other side, but the wall itself.

Haley's eyes widened as she realized how she was hearing this. She sat up normally, crossing her legs under her and tried to focus, clearing her mind and letting her "listen" just to the sounds.
And hopefully not wander into her roommates dreaming or something. Yuck.
