South Wing: Miranda McManus-Weaver and Maya Mills

Up until recently maintained as a museum, the childhood home of the Braddock family has been pressed into service as additional housing and classroom space for the Institute. Additionally, the increased demands have led to the main ballroom being converted into a cafeteria for both the Institute and those University students on a meal plan. Student reactions have been mixed, and reports of paranormal activity are as of yet unsubstantiated.

South Wing: Miranda McManus-Weaver and Maya Mills

Maya Mills wrote:Maya had already moved her stuff in and it was...very organized. Everything was labeled and set into very exact spaces. Her clothes in the closet were arraged by outfit and day of the week. Books, DVD's, and music were arranged by genre and alphabetically. And wherever she could, Maya had arranged everything in fours. Four pencils, four pens, and four notebooks on her desk. Four pillows on her bed.

Miranda Weaver wrote:The other side of the room was not messy by any means, but it was not as organized as Maya's. One corner had a small shrine with hand-drawn art in both Egyptian and Greek styles. The other desk had pictures of a girl with a fish mutation attached to them as well as a few pictures of the fish girl with the girl with the blindfold that they had met at the refreshment table. There were also some pictures of the Headmistress and a woman with sphinx-like qualities. The desk seemed to have art supplies on it and the desk chair was of a strange construction, possibly to accommodate wings.

Miranda was settled at her desk, leafing through something that seemed to be some sort of assignment given the distaste she was showing for it.

Maya came in and began her usual ritual of putting all of her things away. She completely unpacked her bag, put every item in its place, and sat down at her desk.

"Hello," Maya finally said to Miranda.

"It's been fine," Maya says, careful not to say anything too positive or negative about the day. It wasn't over yet. You can't judge a day until it's over.

"The X-Men and the teachers do a good job of keeping things safe," she said, studiously avoiding the validity of Maya's statement.

"Well, I mean, I'm always concerned about that," Maya says. "But I keep having nightmares that I wake up and there are, I don't know, super-villains blowing things up on the quad."

"It makes it very hard to sleep."

"That's no good," Miranda said, finally turning to face Maya. "Any specific super villains or just generic ones?"

She nodded, suddenly looking sheepish. "Yeah, I was... an experiment or something that this organization called Black Air put together."

Since Maya brought it up, she had to hug Miranda now. She gave the girl a quick hug and then retreated back to her own side of the room.

"Sorry. I don't like bad things happening," Maya says. "I mean, I know no one likes...ugh...it's hard to explain."
