After a run-in with Haley a large, black-blue haired dog is running through the grounds. It has a curious big braid in it's wild mane.

Meanwhile, just outside the dorms, Maya was out for a little bit of a walk.

The wolf comes around the corner of the mansion, still shaking some remains of a shattered pane of glass from it's mane. When it sees Maya it growls with it's tail between it's legs.

Maya's eyes widen. She's frozen in absolute terror at the sight of a freaking wolf on campus.

"Holy shit."

There's a hint of recognition in the wolf's eyes. Jennifer is still somewhat in control but running into Maya is only exacerbating her fear about hurting somebody. Her head swivels around, trying to find a good escape route, awkwardly walking a couple steps backwards.

Maya puts her hands up, "Easy, easy..."

The wolf nervously paces back and forth, lowering her head and letting out a low whine. Maya is making herself bigger and standing between her and the relative safety of the woods.

"Are you lost?" Maya asks in a shaky voice. Apparently she thinks wolves and dogs are basically the same thing.

Jennifer lets out a growly bark and runs in a vague circle before warking at Maya again.

"Umm, yeah. Sorry. I don't speak...barks," Maya says. "Do you belong to someone here? Is that...a thing? Keeping wolves."

"...That could totally be a thing here."

She takes a couple bounding steps off to the side but is herded in by some bushes and cowers behind them.

She warks pitifully and lies down next to the bushes.

Maya cautiously approaches, "Don't worry. I won't hurt you."

Jennifer puts her head on the ground and places her paws over her snout.

"Is...is that a braid?" Maya asks. "That's...odd."

The wolf howls faintly.

A more full-throated howl from the forest answers it.

Maya glances over at the forest.

"That's really, really unsettling." She looks back at Jennifer. "Are they with you?"

Jennifer lifts her head and let's out a louder howl in response.

Another answer from the forest, and though it probably means nothing to Maya, Jen can almost recognize the source.

Maya lifts up her hands, keeping her voice quiet, "Maybe we could not call all the other wolves in the area? I'm not super great with animals that might want to eat me."

The next howl kind of dies in her throat before it can come out at that. She hadn't thought about that. That's dangerous. She doesn't want Maya to get hurt. Just Haley maybe. Her head swivels towards the woods and back to Maya and stands up, her back easily past Maya's hips. She almost seems like she's trying to stand between Maya and the direction of the howl.

Something does seem to be moving in the forest, but it's a ways off yet.

"And now the wolf is protecting me," Maya mumbles. "And understands human speech,"

"Are you, like, some kind of mutant wolf? Is that a thing?"

She might be asking questions out of pure nervousness.

Jennifer lets out a growly wark again, her tail swishing back and forth once.

Should she run? She vaguely remembered that running from wild animals was a bad idea. Besides, these might not be wild animals. She wasn't sure. She didn't know what to do.

"I wish Jen were here," Maya says quietly to herself.

The wolf warks again and bumps it's head into Maya's hip, trying to nudge her away from the source of the howls.

"Fine. I'll get out of here..." Maya says, starting to move towards the door while still keeping her eyes on the woods. "...Will you be okay?"

The presence in the forest does seem to be getting closer, by the sounds in the undergrowth.

Jennifer takes on an aggressive stance and growls at Maya, nudging her again towards the door again.

"Fine, fine! I'll go," Maya says. She opens the door. With only a slight hesitation and look back she disappears back into the building, heading to her room.

The wolf waits until the door closes before running off towards the woods.

What approaches, though not leaving the woods, is a rather large red wolf.

After all, Jen called.

Jennifer doesn't seem interested in an actual conflict and just walks past Brigid with another growl.

Brigid looks Jen over to make sure she's alright, and looks in confusion at the braid. She gives it a nudge with her muzzle.

Brigid, not sure exactly what she did wrong, just continues deeper into the forest with Jen.
