Issue 1 Downtime

An old blue hatchback MINI Cooper in rather obvious need of a new paint job pulled into the faculty parking area. The engine shut off and a man in a black coat climbed out. He absent-mindedly pulled out a pack of cigarettes, but put them back. Hadn't he promised his daughter he'd stop, before... he let the thought slide away as he silently looked out at the school.

"Home sweet home I guess," he said in a British accent.

"Mister Tereschenko, I presume?" Nailah says from where she's been waiting near the entrance of the garage.

Sergei looked to her.

"Indeed."

He walked her direction, holding out a hand. "Just Sergei, please... miss?"

"Weaver. Nailah Weaver." she says, shaking his hand.

"Quite the prompt welcome Miss Weaver," he said, "As if you knew when I'd show."

The hand felt wrong, like warm metal. Nailah would sense the powerful life magic and other, stranger spells bound to his being.

"It feels that strange to the touch does it?" he answered with a hint of defensiveness. It was true that the inducer around his neck only hid so much.

"The people at Muir helped me keep my sanity and I'm eternally grateful, but I hope I never see any of them ever again."
