Roland had, somehow, actually tracked down a blu-ray player and had almost figured out how to hook it up, while waiting for his date modern pop culture teacher.

Haley crept next to Roland as he was engrossed in fiddling with the blu-ray player.

"I'm impressed you managed to hook this up at all," she smirked.

"Color-coding is useful, though I think I have too many wires."

"Want me to take a look, or do you think you have it?"

Haley pulled off her light sweatshirt which she wore to ward off the cool night air on the trip to the secret lair and tossed it over a chair.

"Yeah, you speak 21st century," Roland said, taking a sidewards glance at Haley as he straightened up and let her in.

"So, what is this. I gather it's some kind of religious film?"

Haley quirked her eyebrow at him before she busied herself unplugging most everything, starting over, and having it set up quite quickly.

"I....wouldn't call it that, no...why?"

"One of the new students mentioned it in reference to a biblical quote. I assumed..."

"Yeah. One of the guys quotes stuff. That...that's really about it."

"...how do you feel about the word 'fuck?' Because you'll hear that a lot."

Roland paused for a moment.

"I can handle it if you can," he finally said, with a slight chuckle.

"We'll see if you're lying about that or not pretty soon into the movie," she smirked.

"So....do you have food and drinks or should I go raid the cafeteria quick?"

"I have some popcorn--which, you'll be happy to know, I made using a 'microwave'--and some wine."

"Look at you," she teased, still impressed nonetheless. "Both sound awesome."

She plopped down on the closest, most comfortable-looking seat and pulled out her phone, silencing it.

The most comfortable looking seat was an old, leather, overstuffed couch, and Roland joined her there.

"Turning off the phone? I'm touched," he teased.

Haley smirked. "Don't be silly. I'm just turning off the ringer."

"So what kind of wine is it this time? And does it pair well with popcorn?" she giggled.

"It's a Chardonnay. A nice light white wine, with a bit of a buttery tone to it, should go well with the fact-butter-goo they put on the popcorn."

"Fake butter goo is delicious. Just don't look at it in the bag," she smirked, noticing her wine glass and holding it out for him to pour.

"M'Lady, some wine to go with your goo," Roland teased, topping her off. "Alright, you might need to explain this movie to me, then, becuase I thought it was something else entirely," he said, as it started.

"It's pretty...deep in spots I guess. So. Just try to follow along, and maybe we can pause it if you need translation," she said sipping the wine and grabbing a handful of popcorn.

"Ah, a cultural film, then!" Roland nodded, as if he understood.

He didn't, which became apparent as the movie continued.

Haley snatched the remote with her TK about an hour in and hit the pause button. "Prof, squint in confusion any harder you're going to look like a raisin. What's up?"

"It's...people don't really talk like that, do they? I swear, it needs subtitles."

"Sure they do. I warned you about the f word, didn't i?"

"No, I mean, not the F word. The F word is classic.

I'm just saying, how they talk...all these references to...I don't even know what. It just doesn't sound natural."

"Well it...okay...yeah I guess I see your point," she said, finishing her second glass of wine. "But like. Well. I dunno. It's kinda hard to explain that stuff. I kinda just....get it you know? Was anything in particular hard to understand?"

"No, I think I'm getting it, more or less...

I like this boxer guy quite a bit. I'm just not sure I see how it ties in to the drug thing from earlier."

"You've got to keep watching--they all do tie together in the end," she promised. "Do we have any wine left?"

"We do indeed. You seem to be a big fan of it," Roland said, indicating her empty glass as he poured her more.

"Well when I got drunk last year, I basically was falling all over myself and I made out with a girl I hated, and I don't feel like I could do that now, so therefore, I'm sober." she giggled.
