Orientation - Salvage Operation

Finding the bike hadn't been much of a problem with Kay's help. Getting it out had been a bit trickier but eventually they used one of the mission vans to pull it to shore and bring it back to the garage. The bent and waterlogged bike is now sitting in front of the garage doors, a small puddle of sea water slowly forming underneath it.
"This looks pretty bad." the fishgirl with zero engineering experience decides.

Looking over her poor bike, she immediately goes to open the hatch and pulls out a backpack, which is soaked. "Aww you gotta be kidding me..." She opens the bag and looks over the soaking wet clothes. "Ugh. What a pain in the ass." Pulling out a few of the articles of clothing, she holds her hands over them and without even really concentrating, heats the clothing to the point of drying within a matter of minutes. "I have a number of payments left on this sucker. I can't believe it's demolished..." She looks pretty upset.

"We got some people who are pretty good at, like, building stuff. That looks like a lot of work though... Sorry I didn't find it faster."

"No no, I really appreciate your help. I wasn't about to step foot in that water." For obvious reasons. "Means a lot you were willing to help out. Your people good at this kind of stuff then?" She begins redressing without care, tossing her burnt clothing into her bag and putting a long sleeve black shirt. The tattoos she has on her arms, back, and sides are colorful and artistic. Flowers seem to be the theme, oddly.

Kay catches herself staring for a second before snapping out of it and turning around with a faint blush.
"Well I'm not, but we got, like, a plane that Professor Quinn takes care of so she knows how to built things and somebody has a motorcycle. I think it's the lawyer."

"You guys have a lawyer too? Impressive. You've just got the whole set up, huh." She smooths out the wrinkles of the shirt and ruffles her hair a bit. "You have any idea how much this will cost to get fixed?"

"We got a bunch of stupid stuff custody stuff to deal with cause of terrible parents. And I dunno, looks expensive though. I think salt water's not very good for machinery."

"Water in general is an issue." She mutters to herself, kicking the side of the motorcycle. "Perfect. Looks like I'm gonna have to find a job faster than I planned."

"Just catching up with my sister. That's all." She smirks. "Not a big deal when it comes down to it. It's been a long time since I've seen her, and it doesn't surprise me that emotions ran high."

"When it comes down to it, I am just happy that she is doing okay. I missed her to pieces. Even if she trashed the only thing I had to travel with and call 'mine'." She smirks, then goes serious. "I wouldn't be able to replace her. Things like this bike? Replaceable materialistic goods that I could really give two shits about when it comes down to it. I'd give anything to be able to see her okay and happy."

"I suppose that's true. But still. I hate being overbearing with her. She's a big girl. She can handle herself. I just don't like when people screw with her, I suppose."

"Well she did this to your bike, so that's probably true." she chuckles before turning around. "Hello Miss Rogers."

Anika gives a friendly wave to Allison. "Hey there. You any good with these babies?" At this point she knees at the side of her bike and looks over the damage closer.

"Hey, Kay," she said before kneeling next to the bike. "I work more with Harleys, but I can probably figure out this crotch rocket. What did you do to it?"

"Mm...Harleys. Yeah uh...just catching up with my sister. That's all." She didn't really want to pin this on Gemma. As far as she was concerned, they really *were* catching up. No need to make it a big deal. "How bad is it?"

"She's certain to be waterlogged in all the wrong places with..." She ran her fingers through the water. She held it up to her nose and her features shifted, her eyes becoming feline and her nose becoming flatter. She sniffed at it. "... sea water... Damn. I'm going to strip her down to the frame, just to make sure we get that out of everything. Have to replace this and this." She gestured to the places where Gemma's claws had made their mark.

She doesn't make any sort of reaction at the shifting of Allison's features. To her, this was normal. She groaned. "Bloody hells...alright. Looks like it's time for this lady to find a job again. You know how much this will look to cost?"

"You wouldn't be able to afford the kind of help I'm going to bring in on this. You're just lucky that my help is also my girlfriend," she said, picking at the bike. "What sort of schooling do you have?" It sounded like an idle enough question.

She stands and leans on the wall, watching Allison pick at the bike. She shrugs her shoulders. "High school graduate. Nothing special. Never had the grades good enough to go further." Smirks.

"If we turned people out because they weren't book-smart, this place would be half-empty," she said before glancing over her shoulder at Kay. "And you didn't hear me say anything like that, did you, Kay?"

"I'm not kidding. You can talk to any of the X-Men. They all live on campus and they're pretty much all university students. And quite a few of them intend to make that their life's work."

"Well, they rescued the Headmistress' daughter. They rescued me from a fey realm." She was dead serious. "They respond to mutant incidents. They occasionally work with the government to deal with things that they're better equipped to handle. A few teams have done rescue work for natural disasters."

"So you really mean it when you say superheroes. Nice. With all the shit that goes on out there in the world, kinda is relieving to know people bust their ass to make it better." She was also serious.

"So come for the superheroing, stay for the education," Allison said, standing up and growing in size, sprouting fur and fangs. What had originally looked like leather turned out to be her faculty mission outfit. She reached down and picked up the motorcycle.

She watches Allison pick up the bike. "You guys have a nice set up here. Helping mutants, saving the world, giving education. So what's the catch to it all?"

"One: Weird shit sticks to this place like glue and the X-Men end up dealing with it. Two: for the most part, room and board is provided, but you're on your own for spending money. Three: You have to abide by the rules, which are admittedly pretty light for the university folks. They're not particularly bad for the high schoolers. Right, Kay?"
