Issue 1 Downtime

Gideon had been keeping more to himself than usual. He still didn't feel entirely comfortable around other people especially around the younger XI students.

Maybe they remind you of yourself when you first started here?

Gideon brushed away the thought as he walked through the gardens.

He'd eventually come across one of said kids. She was, for lack of a better word, working out. That is, she is punching and kicking a rather huge tree. She isn't entirely flailing around, there are some elements of Krav Maga in there. Who knows why she's not doing this in the Rec Center and a punching bag though, because the tree is doing a number on her hands and shins.

Gideon walked by quietly at first, but found himself stopping for some reason. He turned and looked at the girl quietly assessing her movements.

"Did the tree do something?" Gideon asked.

There was always something about Gideon. Something... off especially if the girl knew anything about him.

She probably didn't know anything about him, at least he didn't remember her being around at the time.

"Sure, why not. Probably did." she says, not looking up at Gid.

She's radiating that typical teenager anger, though possibly a bit more than her classmates.

Gideon had never been particularly good at keeping track of the new students, so he watched her movements.

"And you're losing," Gideon said dispassionately.

She lands another couple blows before stopping. The skin on her knuckles begins to close up almost immediately.

"Don't think so, Dark and Spooky." she says, eyeing Gideon.

"I think the tree will still be there when you're done with your attempt at Krav Maga," Gideon said.

Gideon hesitated for a moment.

"...punching things in general."

Gideon stepped out of the punch's path and put his hands behind his back

"Some mutants aren't quite so fortunate," Gideon said, "You've got a healing factor, eh?"

Sid wastes no time and tries to turn her stumble forward into momentum to whip herself around and sweep the side of Gid's knee with her leg. "You must be a fukkin' genius."

Gideon dodges again by simply stepping out of the attack's path. He doesn't appear to be taking Sid very seriously.

"I've never known invulnerability to backfire" Gideon said casually.

"Pff, invulnerability is for wimps." she says, trying to follow Gid's backwards-step by rushing at him with her shoulder.

Gideon seemed to flow smoothly from a step backwards to stepping around Sid 's rush. His hands were still clasped behind his back.

"Do you know many mutants who are invulnerable?" Gideon asked.

"Not really." she stops for a second to catch her breath. "They're probably shit-heads if they can't even get hurt in the first place though."
