Ashlie, in her
newly adopted shape, is wandering through the gardens, smelling the flowers and plants.

In the distance, ASHLIE could see a red and blue clad figure hovering near the lighthouse, patrolling.

Spotting her (former?) Corpsman Ashlie walks over to the lighthouse and waits for Janice to pass by.
"Can I ask you something?"

Captain Britain paused, lowering herself down.
"Trying something new, eh?" She asked, looking over the brass woman.

"It was brought to my attention that autonomous systems don't have intrinsic rules to follow." she says, presumably as a way to say 'Yes'.

"Had a lot to think about, then?"

She nods.
"Why are you protecting the lighthouse?"

"Because I made a promise when I accepted this amulet."

"So you chose to make that promise?"

"I did," she said, a bit of weariness in her voice. It was hard to tell when she last slept.
"I first accepted it because I wanted to keep my friends from getting hurt. Then I learned how important the things Captain Britain does are."

"How do you decide which promises and rules to adhere to and which not?"

"You have to figure out what's important to you. Decisions have consequences."

"Is that the only reason humans play by the rules they made up?"

"Does it really seem like that small a reason? Some things can't be undone. There's no loading from a backup. If you hurt your friends or let your friends get hurt, physically or emotionally, there's something lost that can't always be repaired. Trust is fragile."

"Yet they keep breaking them..."

"They don't always think it through. That just makes the people you can trust all the more special. Humans hold each other accountable."

"And how do you know that you can trust someone?"
Re: I12 - Smelling The Roses

"By the decisions they've made, who they associate with, how they treat others."

"And if I don't know them?"

"Then it's very hard to tell. Still, if someone has hurt other people, you always wonder if they might do the same to you. If someone does right by people, it's easier to trust them."

"Well I don't know them at all, but they made me a hotdog and made me realize how out here rules are not deterministic."

"...that sounds awfully philosophical for a hot dog vendor."

She tilts her head. "He seemed to. Is that unusual?"

"...I think those two are still out there."

"Oh right. Information moves at the speed of molasses out here."
"He still had a point though."

"I'm not saying he didn't, and I'm not saying it's bad that you learned this."
"Still, was he trying to get you to do something? Confuse you?"

"He said I should take some time off on Monday. I am not sure why he would not want me around since I am not much help like this, whether I still feel compelled to defend the lighthouse or not."

"I think it's great that you're learning more, and I'd never want to take that away from you. I don't think he told you anything that was untrue about how humans make decisions. I just don't think he told you enough, and I'm really suspicious of anything he'd want you to do."

"I am not saying I don't want to defend the lighthouse, but I do not believe I ever had a choice."

"I think some of that had to do with the fact that you're one of the few people that can, at least in that capacity."
"I'm not going to force anything on you, but... I can honestly say I like knowing I have you to back me up. It makes doing this seem less... overwhelming?"

Ashlie smiles briefly.
"I tried interfacing with the system through the danger room but I'm afraid you will have to do with Bobby."

"I'll do what I can for now."
"So aside from confusing hot dog vendors, how have you been doing?"

"It has been a very confusing couple days. I was disturbed the first time I went into suspended mental activity."
