Treadmill. Woo!

Renovated and expanded from the estate's original stables, in memoriam of Alysande Stuart. Houses a modest swimming pool suitable for laps and diving, numerous exercise equipment, and an indoor basketball court. A soccer field is nearby, and the stables are still maintained with a number of well-heeled equines.

Treadmill. Woo!

Rachel was on a treadmill, jogging, and half watching the news on a screen attached to the ceiling.

Violet slips into the room, careful to catch the door behind her lest it crash against the frame. Toying with the straps of her messenger bag she sidles up to the exercising girl. "Hello" she chirps softly, dropping the purse with a 'thunk' on the ground next to an empty machine.

Violet wrinkles her nose unhappily with the sudden realization that accosting strangers in the exercise room would necessitate actual exercise.
so now I get to choose between running and outing myself as a creepy creeper she thinks.

"I believe you're correct" she answers, hauling herself onto the machine and fiddling with the buttons "it's nice to meet you, I'm Violet" gesturing towards the TV she asks 'anything interesting?"

With a small sigh Violet muses "don't suppose they'll do any good though" she falls quiet for a few moments, still fiddling with the controls until her machine lurches to life. Staggering as she tries to find her footing she exclaims 'these things had to have been intended for punishment."

Laughing softly, Violet exclaims 'I don't even know, I would be in favor of a moving side-walk from place to place though. So maybe I'm not the best judge."
She jogs half-heartedly for a few moments before adding "least they could do is put like, a cupcake on a stick or something. Jesus, give a bitch something to run towards".

As if by fate, a cupcake Derek walked in in his workout outfit, setting to work loading the weights onto the bench in front of the treadmills.

"Not the worst point of view to have, provided you have the self control to run now so that you might drink later. I have a pathological view of my future. Soon as I'm faced with a treadmill I'm convinced I'm going to eat healthy and walk more." her voice grows breathy, less distinct as the combination of exercise and speech take their toll "show me a bear, then I'll run---this is just--this is--this is made of yuck"

she glances at the new arrival then back to Rachel "congratulations' she pants 'you'd officially last longer then me in a zombie apocalypse."

"Less worried about that than I am being able to handle being on my feet for an twelve hour shift." Rachel replied "I'm in the nursing program." she added.

Violet fumbles with a set of buttons, slowing the treadmill down to a more manageable pace. "Oh okay, well medical personnel are on the front lines of any epidemic anyway. So it looks like I have a chance after all'. She frowns slightly, eyes drifting upward as she tries to decide whether her answer had been unkind. The silence draws on too long before she adds haltingly 'nursing though huh? That must be interesting, even if twelve hours is a bit daunting."

'Any time? I know there's enough vitriol and anti-mutant sentiment out there' she gestures vaguely away from her in the direction of what she hopes the school entrance is 'to keep it a looming possibility but I wouldn't think anyone would really carry out an attack on a school full of the evolved would they? I mean, I'm glad they're training you guys for worst-case-scenario but ummm...how imminent are they making it sound?'

Worrying at her cuticle with her teeth, barely trudging along on the treadmill, Violet tries for nonchalance "Oh yes. All of that. Suppose that makes sense then." the tone rings false and with a small sigh she drops the pretense "don't put that on the brochure do they. I suppose I knew that sort of thing was a possibility but I can't say it was at the forefront of my mind" She is quiet for several moments, though her mouth opens and closes as she tries and fails to bite back the next question "does it scare you?"

Feeling a little guilty for being a downer, Violet struggles to think of something to say to lighten the mood. Unable to think of anything appropriate she pulls a bobby pin out of her hair and flings it at Derek. "and what about you Captain-keeps-to-himself? Figure we'll all be super villain bait"?

Derek managed to not drop the weights as the bobby pin bounced off his head. "God damn, I hope not," he said. "That was a mess last year, with all the stupid robots and zombies and werewolves and stuff. I'll be happy to go a few months without seeing the infirmary load up with casualties of stuff." He shot the girls a smile as he laid down on the bench and got ready to lift.

Violet's eyes go wide in a moment. "You were here for that? And you're just going to wander in all nonchalant? Gosh no. If I had a story that good I'd have marched up to everyone on campus already" She sticks her arm out in mimicry, shaking hands with an imaginary person as she boasts "Hi, names Violet. I was here for the werewolves and stuff. Yeah." she does her best approximation of the 'bro-nod' and concludes in mock aggression "How you like me now?" she shakes her head, glancing with sudden suspicion, at Rachel "what about you? You have some mind-blowing story you're holding back?"

Laughing softly, Violet shakes her head in disagreement. "Oh no no, you forgot the power of the bro-nod. You need to work on your game sir" Instructively, she lifts her chin and glowers in his general direction. In a low voice she starts "You know nothing about last ye-" but she dissolves into peals of laughter, clapping both hands over her mouth in a hopeless effort to stifle the sound. Distracted by her own amusement, she forgets the moving tread beneath her for a moment sliding forward and into the screen.

"Oof" the bars caught her firmly across the midsection. Coughing reflexively, Violet hopped off of the moving tread and onto the plastic border. Rubbing her stomach ruefully she takes a moment to feel sorry for herself then shakes her head in disbelief "There is no way Miss Rachel. Every nurse I have ever known has been chock full of terrifying nurse stories. Nursing is made of yuck and fascination. Besides, nothing is more interesting then pathology. Diseases are absolutely fascinating"

"Well, after seeing a ward full of people dying of a viral epidemic and spontaneously breaking out new powers, I don't think there's anything I could make up that'll seem worth the effort."

One eyebrow quirked upward, Violet asks "and who did you run your mouth about then? That sounds like a story as does 'spontaneously breaking out new powers'. The other sounds sad, I adore reading about strange diseases but to be confronted with their effects would be sobering to say the least. One of the lighter stories. Go!" she claps her hands officiously though her expression betrays her discomfort at the thought of actually witnessing an epidemic.
