Issue 1 Downtime

Ms. McManus was having an agitated phone conversation in her office.

"And all we have is the last known position of that beacon?" She frowned.

There was a pause as she listened to the report from the field.

"Well I want that area combed. We need something. anything."

Rachel knocked on the door to Samantha's office.

"Come in, Miss O'Brien."

After having attended school at the University of Tomorrow, being invited to come in by name didn't even phase Rachel, even assuming that she'd have noticed, in her agitated state. "Something has happened to Ryan." she said without preamble "He's missing, and I think he's been kidnapped."

"That's what I'm working with right now. He fired off his emergency beacon."

"Oh, shit." Rachel said "I hoped that I was wrong....do you know anything?"

"We've got his last known whereabouts and little else. I'm awaiting more information."

"Fuck." Rachel said softly "um, sorry" she added, realizing she'd just said 'fuck' to the headmisstress "What can I do?"

"Mister Stanton has insisted on helping organize the X-Team response to this. If you want to help, he's your man."

"Ok." Rachel said, "I'll go find him."
