Issue 1 Downtime

Laura kicked back in the common room, flipping through a packet about various classes for next semester. She circled a few things before scratching her head and resting her chin on one hand.

Trev walked in, backpack slung over his shoulder and sat down at one of the tables in the common room to start doing some reading for class.

Laura looked up, glancing at the newcomer as if sizing him up. "You know anything about the different professors here? I'm kind of at a loss."

Trev was always looking for an excuse to procrastination. Always. Especially when it involved a cute girl.

"None of them are bad, really. History professor, Sackville? He's eccentric as hell but really cool. Tough grader. Languages professor Weaver is really cool..." he said listing with his fingers.

"Any you're wondering about in particular? I'm Trev by the way."

"What's Doctor Weinrich like? She seems to be on most of the Mutant Studies classes."

"She's pretty cool," he thought. "If you can believe it, I spent time in her body a few weeks ago."

Trev paused a moment, reddening slightly. "Oh that sounded weird...okay. So. A few weeks ago, a bunch of people here had their minds placed in other people's heads. Because magic and...I promise I'm not crazy," he smirked.

"Not surprised," she said. "Always bound to be something weird going on around here. Besides, I'm not one to pass judgement on spending time in other people's bodies... whether you take that in the double meaning sense or not."

"You have no idea how much weird shit happens around here," he chuckled, relaxing slightly.

"If half the stuff you hear about on Twitter and in the news is true, then I have a small idea. Who's the professor..." She seemed to be looking for words to describe someone, then shrugged, "Looks like this." Her facial features contorted and were replaced by Nailah's.

"Well that answers my next question," he smirked.

"That'd be professor Weaver,..I don't think I caught your name?"

Her features returned to normal. "Laura. Laura Weston. You?"

"I'm Trev," he smiled. "So any other powers besides shape shifting and being gorgeous?"

"A superhuman ability to accept flattery," she said, fanning out her wings. "Just these things."

"Those are awesome--can you fly with them?"

"I can, but I make the most awful buzzing noise when I do."

"Oh my!" a compound-eyed girl says, stopping in the door as she sees Laura's wings. "Those are beautiful!"

"I doubt it's that bad. I never mind buzzing as long as it's not something trying to sting me or climb into my ear.

"Thank you, new person," Laura says with a grin. "Trev, can you do the introductions?"

Trev eyed Teri for a moment, thinking. "Pretty sure we have at least one class together. Teri, right?" he smiled.

"That's us!" she smiles. "And who are you?" she asks Laura, walking up to the two.

"Laura. I was just asking Trev here about the professors."

"Nice to meet you Laura. They're all pretty nice. But eccentric."

"Eccentric is a good word to describe a lot of them," he nodded in agreement.

"Eccentric I can deal with. I should feel right at home."

"Everyone's a little strange here." she smiles.

"I think it's a requirement for graduation," he joked.
