That time John did not realize he sounded exactly like his father. Minus the nickname part, naturally.

There's a crash from the other end of the line that, with some imagination, sounds like a door being slammed and falling out of it's frame.

John looked like he had been slapped in the face.

"Mizuki... please..." he said, losing his tone of authority entirely, "I'm just scared okay? Usual X-Men stuff is one thing... but this? This has me terrified. I... I just don't want to lose anyone else..." He stopped, fighting back tears.
