From underneath one of the doors of the dorms, a gradually thickening smell of smoke was coming up, despite a towel wedged under the door frame.

"Oh, poo."

Spotting the smoke as she was walking down the hall, Callie knocked on the door.

"Everything okay in there?" Callie asks, concern in her voice.

"Yes! Yes, it is! Everything's alright!

...I mean, probably!"

"Are you sure?" Callie asks, "'Cause you're kind of smoking out the hall."

"Oh, darn!" she said, quickly opening the door. "We need to stop that before it sets off the smoke detectors!"

Raven was wearing her hat and a full robe, adorned with moon and stars and things. In her room was a large cauldron of some sort.

Callie tilts her head, "Looks like quite the hurlyburly in there."

"Hurly...oh, right. The hat. No, no, it's all...well, it's all under control.

Or, like, it WAS all under control, like, y'know?"

Callie steps past Raven, into the room, "What are you doing in here anyway?"

Callie coughs, looking around for a window.

There was a window in Raven's room, of course, though it was closed.

"Oh, you know. Magic.

...Brewing," she clarified after a moment's pause.

Callie walks over and opens the window, letting some of the smoke out, "It better not be anything illegal."

"What? No! Of course not.

...I don't think it's illegal, anyway."

"That's...not super encouraging, hun," Callie says, trying to wave smoke out of the window with a towel she found.

"Well, it shouldn't be illegal! I mean, you know, nothing in it is!"

"Said every crystal meth dealer ever," Callie teases good naturedly, "So, what are you brewing then?"

"I'm trying to make something to help a friend..." she said, somewhat evasively.

"No, actually! In fact, this is not meant to be taken internally."

"If it causes this much smoke, I'm not sure it should be taken externally either," Callie says, "You need any help?"

"Um....it, like, shouldn't produce that much smoke. That was supposed to be absorbed by the baking soda...or the comfrey root, I forget."

"Maybe you have it on too high of a heat?" Callie suggests.

"Oh, you have to get it QUITE piping hot -- the transition from stage to stage is part of the purification process, and the reversion to more natural cooler states represents returns to normality.

And stuff."

"...It starts with a Y, yes?"

Callie sighs, "Forget about her. She's just a jealous little bitch. If you let her get to you, she wins."
