Issue 1 Downtime

A cab pulls up to the dorms, and Anita steps out. She's wearing clean, but deeply worn maroon fatigues, with a beat-up X-Corp jacket on top. Her skin is tanned dark, her hair pulled back in a basic pony-tail. She has a dark green duffel slung over her shoulder.

Anita leans over to chat with the cabbie for a moment as she says goodbye to him, waves once the cab pulls off. Turning to face the dorms, she looks them over for a long moment, then breaks into a broad smile.

"Whatdya know? I missed this place." She digs around in her pocket, pulls out a wad of papers, peers at them. "Room #101? Startin' from the bottom I guess."

Anita heads up into the common area of the dorms.

Just in time for Teri to come skipping down around the corner of the stairwell on a straight-on collision-course.

Anita's head snaps in Terry's direction as soon as the other girl's momentum lines up a collision course. She grins and smoothly moves to the side, barely avoiding the girl-shaped doom that was coming at her.

"Hey there. This a new tradition? Runnin' folks down so we don't get soft?"

She smiles broadly at Teri.

"Oh!" Teri blinks and turns her head towards Anita as she goes sailing past, forgetting that she needs to keep her feet moving and falling the rest of the way out of sheer momentum. When she hits the ground (or just before) she collapses into a giant pile of bugs a the foot of the stairs.

Anita recoils instinctively, but calms down pretty quickly with a very confused look on her face.

She crouches down and sniffs at the bugs. "Well alright. That's a new one."

It doesn't take Teri long to put herself back together, smiling brightly at Anita.

"Sorry! We didn't see you there."

Anita rises from her crouch and shrugs. "No harm done. Gotta say, that's an intense mutation ya'll got. Or are ya an alien or somethin'?" Anita offers a hand. "Anita Fernandez."

"We're Teri." she says, gladly letting Anita help her up. "And we're not an alien. Though we do leave a mark on crops sometimes." she chuckles.

Anita laughs loudly. "Alright, hey, ya'll want ta get somethin' ta eat? I just got back from a long trip. Gotta stash my bag, but then I'm good ta go. Looks like they got me in room 101, so I just gotta dash 'round the corner and drop my stuff off."

"Oh! That's our room. Have you met Isabel yet?"

Anita grins hugely, showing off a flash of her fanged teeth. "Naw I can't say I have. Well double nice ta meet ya then, roomie. Wanna give me the grand tour?"

She hefts the duffel on her shoulder and heads down the hall toward the room.

"We'd love to!" she says, heading up the stairs ahead of Anita to take her to their room.

Anita walks into the room and looks around. "Nice." She does wrinkle her nose a little bit at the chateau goth portion of the room but refrains from saying anything. After finding out which bedroom is free, she tosses her duffel on the bed and leaves it at that.

"Well, can't get ta decoratin' my bit till mah stuff gets here from my parent's place. Ya'll got any room rules or anything I should know about? Don't wanna come rushin' in like a loose bull."

"Not really but Isabel works a lot and we spend most of our time outside. We could make up some for the winter though."

"Fair nuff. Alright, let's get that meal. I'm starvin'."

"The dining hall's over in the mansion. All the class-rooms and the younger kids' rooms are there too." she says as the two head off.

"Yeah I actually was here for a while, had ta leave due ta power issues an... other stuff. Got lucky with an X-Corp internship, got ta see a lot of the world."

Anita moves on to the cafeteria as she's talking.
