Madrox walked down a hall in the dorms, calculating various data points and finishing a paper in his head as he went.

A white-haired woman materializes next to Madrox, wearing the same boring outfit she did in the cafeteria earlier, though the woman herself appears much younger.
"I have noticed people seem to assume I am constantly watching them if I do not attempt to make a more pronounced appearence."

"Through hidden cameras I suppose?" he asked wryly, not really wanting an answer.
"They're just afraid of Big Brother. That is to say, in this case, mass surveillance with no regard to privacy."
"Or perhaps they think having no appearance is somehow inherently sinister. Both are paranoid nonsense of course."

"Regardless of what I do it seems to confuse people. And now I am tutoring Mister Strong and he seems to show behaviour that warrants a certain amount of observation of what is happening in the school network for his own sake. I do not wish to confirm his suspicions but his cybernetics give him an innate familiarity with electronic systems and a tendency towards ignoring rules."

"Then let me keep an eye on the network," he suggested, "That way you aren't the bad guy."

"It's hard not to, because that is where I exist. I'm mostly looking for advice because I assumed the right response would be to adress him instead of alerting anybody, but now I am questioning whether that is the case or if I am missing other options."

"Well if it puts him at ease, approaching him as a hologram rather than a message in his head isn't a bad idea. Also, just appearing before him out of thin air would reinforce his false notion that you're simply hiding and watching."

"I did just that. Yet I still seemed to confuse and annoy him and Miss Crusek."

"What did you say that annoyed him so?" he asked curiously.

"I pointed out that if I'd talk to him over the port he opened that would be rude towards Miss Crusek and I commented on the project he was working on. Somehow he seemed to think I was making people think he is not a real person but just a machine."

"While I don't believe you were doing that... were you speaking to him the same as you would any other person?"

"Of course I was. But Mister Strong got angry and Miss Crusek was confused, so I came to the conclusion that I was at fault somehow. It'd appear I do not entirely understand social behaviour and dynamics yet."

"Navigating the minefield of mental baggage Mister Strong must be carrying with him would likely even challenge a trained psychologist. Really, you could be doing a whole lot worse."

"I do believe I have managed to convince him I am not a human accessing his cybernetics and trying to mislead him. Why he assumed so in the first place I do not understand."

"For perhaps as many reasons. Far too many mutants have parents who rejected them, or other people who are supposed to protect them but choose not to... and then there's things like the MRA legislation."
...and Sentinels...

"Yes, it is," he answered with a sad bitterness, remembering with unerring accuracy how the abuses of authority took his creator and brother.
"It's a harder adjustment for some."

"I was making a joke." she adds, sounding a little disappointed that it apparently didn't work.
