Issue 1 Downtime

Nate, in human form for once, was sitting in the cafeteria, picking up and sniffing at the fishsticks on his plate. He was dressed in a fairly typical pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt, both black. He frowned as he sniffed and put them back down.

"Oh come on," Samantha said as she walked by with her tray, "they're not that bad."

"I'm not even sure they're fish," Nate said, before dipping one in cocktail sauce and taking a bite out of it.

"Especially since fish don't come in sticks," Nate said. "You're welcome to sit if you don't want to stand there with your tray."

"A little bit. Better sense of smell, better hearing, but it's not quite the same. I did mention I was a shapeshifter when we first met didn't I?"

"I've got some bleed over, I guess. Or shifting continuum issues. I could also be making up terms to make myself feel better about how these fish sticks smell."

"It must be weird though, feeling like that even when you're not fuzzy."

"Yeah. Makes some foods harder to enjoy. But on the flip side, I enjoy some foods more, so I guess it's not all bad."

"Meat is definitely preferable, but I still like some vegetables. Especially anything where the smell enhances the flavor. Thai food is awesome now. So is Indian."

"Well, you definitely wouldn't want to shove your nose down close to it, but it's not too bad. May have something to do with the fact that I've been eating spicy stuff all my life though."
