Issue 1 Downtime

"Alright, I want you to give this an honest chance," Sam said as she passed a garment over the top of the changing room door.

"Alright... This one should work."

Trying things on had proven to be a bit... complicated up to this point, mainly because fitting wings and tail in was tricky without going severely backless and especially the tail kept sabotaging the shorter skirts by pushing them up. Not that that couldn't be fixed but it had made Nailah even more wary of anything short. Regardless, after a while she emerged from the dressing room posing only a little awkwardly in the dress Sam had picked.

Sam for her part was grinning only a little madly when she saw the results.

"Beautiful. How does it feel on you?"

"It's not quite right but that's the tail. Guess I don't have to ask how you like it." she chuckles at Sam's enthusiastic grin.

"Oh aye, because I'm so likely to hand you a dress that I hate."

"That and you're grinning like it's Christmas morning. You're enjoying this way too much." she says before doing a slow twirl.

"There's such a thing as too much? I just think it looks great on you."

"It does." she nods, unfolding her wings a little. She does have to admit that despite her 'handicap' she's having fun.

"I figured the ruffles would help with the tail a bit, aye?"

"Very. Though it might take a bit of adjusting or I'm gonna end up accidentally showing off my butt."

"Aye, we typically save that for the dorm room," she teased.

"I don't--Oh shut up, you." she laughs and, for some reason, blushes.

"Turnabout is fair play, aye?"

"Not like you were supposed to hear that..."

"Consider the timing."

"The timing?"

"It was all rather 'don't think about elephants,' aye?"

"See? Can't blame me then." she chuckles.

"And I'm not, I'm just returning the favor."

"I'll stop complaining then." she says a bit sheepishly.

"Distracted you enough that your tail is behaving," she smirked.

"Sneaky!"

"But yeah, I like it. Bit shorter than I would have picked but... I guess that's the point."

"So are we saying this is a winner, or should I give you more options?"

"We can keep looking but I think this one's going to be hard to beat."

"Alright, fair's fair, did you see anything that would look good on me?"

"Well let's take a look around. I, uhm, I guess you're a bit less... you know... careful than me?"

"I'll try on anything you hand me," she said with a smirk.

"Hmm, okay. Let's see then..." she says as she wanders down the aisles. "Green would look amazing but that might be a bit on the nose and you get enough dumb comments already... Here, how about this one?"

"I'd have tried it on even if it was green," she chuckled. "Let's go see though, aye?"

She took the dress and headed off for the changing room.

"Would have been too easy." she nods as she follows Sam to wait next to the changing room.

"You'll have to be patient," she said with a grin as she ducked inside.

"Sure thing."

What followed was mostly predictable, as shoes were shucked off, jeans draped over the door. Was it supposed to take this long? It was hard to tell.

"What are you doing in there?" she asks after a while.

"I'm just getting changed. Did you see me complaining when you were in here?"

"You try this with wings and tail and get back to me."

"I'm not the one complaining," she said as she poked Nailah's side with a bare foot from under the door.

"Oh shush and hurry up." she laughs, trying to swipe at Sam's foot with her tail.

"Alright, alright," she said as she finally stepped out in the dress, hair held by a hand in an improvised up-do.

"What's the verdict?"

"Wow! I mean... Just wow."
