Daniel was looking very disgruntled as he came into the briefing room, muttering something likely unpleasant under his breath.

Cal lounged back in the seat next to Kevin, messing with controls on his staff that only he could see the labels to.

"We get everyone out safe?" Starlord asked.

"Dast well looks like none of you are happy about it."

"Well, there was this guy, and he kind of was cleaning the floor with us half the time and killed our prisoner, so yeah, not our best moment," Daniel grumbled from his seat.

"There was also some kind of superpowered Skrull dressed like a Mad Max reject," Kev said, "Pai-something."

"Paibok? Must have been part of the ambassador's entourage. Dast Skrulls made a bunch of fellas like him when they were tryin' to make another Super Skrull."

Cal smirked. "Hear that, man? You beat up a junior super-skrull," he said, elbowing Kevin in the arm.

"You can show Cosmo if you have to," he said as he nodded to the dog. "I get enough of that dast mindspeaking."

With a nod, Rachel linked with Cosmo and filled him n on how the mission had gone, and what the ambassador had revealed.

"This is not good, comrade." Cosmo broadcast.

"Dast well spit it out, then."

"It is the Church, Peter."

A grave look crossed Starlord's face.

"Folks, we've got a problem."

"He's part of a whole mess of dangerous to know people."

"The Universal Church of Truth. They're the bastards that figured out how to weaponize faith, of all things."

"How... how does that even work?" Kev thought aloud, "'I strongly believe I have a gun, therefore laser fingers'?" He made finger guns and mimed shooting with a whispered "Pew, pew."

"Here's the thing: one person doing that? It dast well doesn't amount to much. Their enforcers aren't channeling one person's faith, they're channeling whole ships of it. In some cases planets are tapped just for their belief."

"The mind's a funny thing. It ain't bound by facts. You can think something without any proof, and you can deny something in the face of evidence against it. Dast well ain't logical, but that's what belief is."

"You get a whole ship of people that believe that these fellas are the chosen warriors of God, and the ship's designed to channel that into the armor of their enforcers. Dangerous stuff."

At that the robot somewhat collapses in on itself as it sits back down. It almost looks like it's pouting, which of course is ridiculous. It's just reprocessing it's memory banks.

Starlord gave Kevin a look.

"Cute. No, their deal is the more faith they have, the more force of belief, the more they can do."

"And at this point we have to assume your friend's with them. That give anyone here the hibblies? Anyone?"
