Issue 1 Downtime

The air was clean. There were gardens, pools, well-made building, people (skrulls, but still people) relaxing everywhere. Everything about it, even to someone who had only been on one planet their entire lives, screamed 'resort'.

This was the scene that greeted the X-Men and the Guardians as they were teleported in. It was night time, so they were able to appear in a shadowy corner unnoticed for the time being. Star Lord, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot stood at the head, the latter having foregone his uniform for this trip, stood with the X-Men, looking around quickly to make sure they were alone and unnoticed, which they were. "All right," Star Lord said. "Groot, you're our outside alert. Get your makeup on."

"I AM GROOT," Groot replied quietly, moving over to a grassy patch and settling himself there, stock still. Leaves suddenly sprouted from his head and hands as he held them out, giving him the appearance of an alien tree that had been growing there.

"All right," he went on. "I'm hitting you each with a holo-tag. Should give us five minutes of looking like Skrulls, but let's not expect that to do us much. Just get in, find the target, and get out. I'll get this building with Rocket, you get that building, whoever finds the guy first, put out a call so we can all meet up."

"Find Ambassador Kermit and call for backup, got it," Kev nodded.

"Get in, get out, get done." Rachel said with a nod

"Acknowledged." Ashlie says, pauses a moment while processing how much like a machine that makes her sound, then adds "I mean 'Understood'."

"Five minutes? Hope we an work fast or we'll be doing a whole lot of fighting on our way back..." Skrull Melody muttered.

"Well, let's move it, then," Daniel said, looking at the building. "Besides," he whispered where he stood behind Melody, "You saying we can't manage a quickie?"

Just the joke alone would tell her that he was extremely nervous.

"Nothing about anything we do is ever quick," she smirked, moving with purpose towards the building, but not fast enough to arouse suspicion.

The team would find it rather easy to get in holographically disguised. Once in, it was rather how you would expect a resort to be, if the resort had been designed by aliens. Being night time, there were only a few people milling about.

They appeared to be in a lobby, and while there were obviously differences owing to it being, well, alien, they'd find that it could be treated like any other hotel or resort lobby in regard to expectations over what they'd find.

((I am going to try to make the situation a little more clear: You are in a hotel lobby and need to find a person staying there.))

bobby took ASHLIE aside for a moment.

"Look, if I distract the skrull front desk guy, can you do your computer thing and scan the hotel directory for our guy? Find out what room he's in?"

"I should be able to, yes."

"Ok, get ready."

Bobby took a deep breath, and then purposely strode up to the desk, and began ringing what passed for a skull bell.

"Manager, Manager!" he said, sternly.

Evidently, the guy who was working this late didn't take too kindly to that kind of treatment. "He's sleeping. What the flark do you want?" the skrull at the counter said, glowering at Bobby.

while he was distracted the monitor behind the counter began to flicker and race through clumns of data as Ashlie accessed their system and searched for their target.

"What the fark do I want? I want the horrid smell emanating from the 10th floor to cease! Is that too much to ask, Queen praised?!?"

"Smell on the tenth floor? We don't HAVE a tenth floor you flarking jumwat! What are you flarking playing at!"

"Quick," Cal whispered to Kevin out the side of his mouth, "Fall into me."

Kevin did as Cal said, pretending to trip into him.

"What's your flarking problem!" Cal snarled, shoving him back, rather hard, into a wall, and squaring off with him.

"My problem? My problem?!" Kev snarled back.

"Yeah, your problem!" Cal shouted, throwing a punch at him (though fully intending pull it).

"Oh flark it... Security!" the Skrull at the desk called, pressing a button for a communication line. Amidst the distractions, between Bobby and the Fighting Fools, it didn't notice Ashlie sifting through the files until she came up with the room number and the locator frequency for the former ambassador's comm that the security systems tracked him through.

Ashlie immediately scans the frequency to make sure he's in his room (and if he's not to find out where he is).

"I believe I have located him."

Kevin reeled back from the pulled punch, holding his face for effect.

"The flark is wrong with you?!" he growled.

"Flark it, your ass is mine!" he said, retaliating with his own faux-punch.

Melody let herself get knocked into by the fake fight and exaggerated a fall to the floor. "Watch it!" she screamed. "Kick both their asses, they just ruined my outfit!" she ordered Daniel like a bossy girlfriend.

"Can you get us up there?" Rachel asked ASHLIE.

"Positive." she says and heads off, assuming the brawling people will follow after a bit. She transmits the coordinates to Cal to make sure they know where to go.

Rachel followed behind ASHLIE.

Before Daniel had a chance to kick their asses, Security was swarming into the room, trying to break up the fight. The others were completely unwatched and able to pursue the ambassador, if they all left now.

Daniel, apropriately, grabbed Melody's arm, pulling her away from the fight. "Not worth my time," he murmured, smirking at her as they hurried off after Ashlie.

"Oh, looks like someone else wants a piece of us!" Cal taunted as Security swarmed in, turning and clocking another one. And, like that, the resort's security force was suddenly focused on containing two X-Men.

"And a piece they shall have!"Kevin said as he, too, turned to punch a security guard. "...of my fist."

As the security guards called for backup, Ashlie would be able to follow the tracer signal for the ambassador. He wasn't moving, and seemed to be located by a pool. By the time they got there, they would find him lying out, lounging without a care in the world.

They would also see that a naked skrull wasn't all that different from a naked human. Just... well, green. With ridges in places.

Rachel reached out towards his mind, since that seemed the easiest way to get him compliant and quiet.

The ambassador was caught off guard by the mental assault, and while Rachel could feel a struggle in his mind, she had a solid initial grip on his mind.

Back in the lobby, the security force swarmed over Cal and Kevin, not having expected the cushy resort to have to deal with trained fighters who were more than happy to pointlessly kick the shit out of something. The head of the security force crawled away after getting clocked by Kevin, keying his communicator. "Send in the Power Skrull!" he rasped.

"He won't give us any trouble." Rachel said to ASHLIE, "Lets pick him up and get out of here."

The robot's head jerks up and down and Ashlie goes to pick up the ambassador.

There was a clatter as, by the door on the opposite side, another skrull saw what was going on and dropped the tray he was carrying. "What do you think you're doing," he asked, looking at them suspiciously.

Ashlie's head swivels without the rest of her turning. "Getting out of here."

"Power Skrull?" Kev asked Cal quietly between punches, "That... sounds bad."
