Issue 1 Downtime

Miranda ducked through the brush and skidded to a halt when she arrived at the jet. "It's... huge..."

"I wasn't kidding when I said we had a jet parked around the corner." Sara smiles, having shed the excess rock she had picked up and shifted back to human.

"You're the lady from upstairs," Miranda said, still regarding the jet.

"Upstairs?"

"You're the one I saw," she said, "Looking around upstairs with him." She pointed at Kevin.

She raises her eyebrows. "Oh? Can you see through walls?"

"Maybe? I don't know. You looked irritated though."

"I'm not a big fan of cruel experiments and questionable research."

"I can't say that I'm in favor of them either."

"Well that's over now. You're safe with us." she says, somewhat nervously glancing back towards the direction of the base.

"I'm glad," she said, sounding as if she were somewhere else.

Kevin was nervously watching for Will and Steph.

"I suggest moving your shapeshifting ass about now Will!" he radioed.

The interior of the building rocked with explosions, with Will (carrying Steph and Kraven with him) emerging just before them, and collapsing.

"Will!" she yells and runs up to them, ignoring the threat of debris from the collapsing building.

"Clean up your own trash," he said, hoarsely, referring to Kraven.

Steph pushed away from Will, dropped to the ground and shifted back to human form. Shifting usually helped jump-start her quick healing, and she looked like she needed it. She already had impressive bruises forming, a number of nasty cuts and the spot where she'd been bitten didn't look good at all.

"Whole place...could blow," she panted. "Keep...moving..."

Though staggering around herself, she helped Will up, and started trying hobble towards the plane supporting each other.

Kevin rushed to help support the haggard pair but winced upon trying.

"Yeah that hurt. I think the crazy guy broke a rib."

He regarded Steph. "You win though."

"Plane...go...don't need to stand around bleeding...attracting things to come...eat us..." she panted.

"Don't push yourself. It's not far to the plane." she says, helping Steph up. Her urge is to help Will, but he's probably the one to bounce back the fastest.

Will dragged...literally dragged...Kraven to the plane.

"Go go go go go. Go. Go go go." he said to the previously unmentioned pilot.

Steph climbed into the plane and collapsed into a chair, unconscious.

Miranda helped find a spot for Charles and then took a seat herself, squeezing the arms of the chair a bit hard.

The plane lifted straight up, and kicked into motion.

"Yeah, I'ma...i'ma gonna take a little nap."
