Gemma was content to follow Graham's lead as they moved deeper into the city. It allowed her to focus on getting through the terrain which was rough enough as it was. "Where are we headed? I've lost my sense of direction in this mess."

Graham hacked through some vines with his machete.

"Southeast. I've regularly seen smoke coming from this direction. That means survivors."

Gemma nodded, crawling up a big pile of rubble to perch and get a higher view.

Graham climbed up after her and crouched at her side.

"See anything?"

"Trees, vines, ruined buildings. Not much else at the moment," she said.

"With you in dragon mode, they'll see us before we see them."

"Beats me having to rip through yet another set of clothing because I need to be in dragon mode and I'm not."

"Hah. Just about the same reason I don't shift more."

"Except for being fire-proof, I'm not much use in a fight unless I'm like this."

As they did their recon, they would get the sense that they were being watched.

"What? No enha..." he began, growing quiet and attentive. He put a finger to his lips and looked around carefully.

Gemma went as still as, well, a stone. She carefully watched Graham for cues.

The sensation drew closer, almost more intense.

Graham whirled in the direction he thought the feeling was coming from, bow drawn in a blur of motion.

Gemma's head pivoted to follow the movement.

A sense of curiosity followed the feeling, but no one presented themselves.

"Who are you? What is your business here?" The presence seemed to project into the edge of Graham's thoughts.

He flinched a little. It had been quite a while since he'd felt psychic contact.

"Travelers. Looking for The Seer."

"Many seek the Seer. What is your purpose in seeking the Seer?"

Gemma didn't appear to hear any of this. "I'm not seeing anything. False alarm?"

"No. A telepath just said hi."

"Information. Nothing more."

"Wait where you are. Someone will come to you. And if I see so much as a flame from that dragon, things will get unpleasant." The feeling of being watched grew more general, as if the presence had withdrawn to some distance.

"Well that's certainly... not comforting. If things get messy, just try to stay clear of my head and my tail."

"I'll do my best. I tend to let my other side roll with it when it comes to a fight."

After a while someone carrying a rifle in the crook of her arm steps out of a thick growth nearby. She's not aiming at them but is making a point out of showing that she's armed.

"Well, she wasn't kidding about the dragon."

Gemma did her best to look imposing, peering down from her perch at the new arrival. "Generally bad form to kid about dragons," she said, tilting her head as she regarded Jennifer. She was bigger body-wise with a slightly larger wingspan than she'd had at university. The cracks in her stone armor pulsed with a dull orange glow. "We're here to see the Seer."

Graham kept his bow stowed. He watched the welcoming party carefully. Had they met somewhere?

"Orders are, nobody can see the Great Seer! Not nobody, not nohow!" Vertie added with a smirk as she lightly "touched" the dragon and archer. She was not looking to take over, just judge their emotional states.

Vertie would pick up two emotional states from the dragon. One was intensely bored, though it perked up at her "touch". The other was tense and watchful and seemed to be the dominant presence in the body at the moment.

The archer was in a state of focused but somehow primal readiness, prepared for both fight and flight.

Vertie carefully moved her camo jacket, revealing her school tactical uniform's "X" and code-name patch. "Double minded shifter...and twitchy archer."

"He'd better not twitch too much, then." Brigid says, still up in the tree.

Gemma tilted her head to the other side as she regarded Jennifer, though it was hard to see if it might be recognition in her glowing eyes.

"Blame it on the Scots." Vertie smiled. "Gemma, Ignata. So, you're the Welsh Dragon we've been hearing about?"
