As it was every night the
grand ballroom was prepared for dinner, everything picture perfect and polished to a shine. At least the couple of tables that were being used. The rest had their chairs turned upside down and placed on the tables. Hand-written place-cards are sitting on the tables and soft music is playing as the room waits for the guests.

The strong looking boy entered the ballroom, the casualness of his striped blue shirt clashing with the extravagant room. He had entirely forgotten that, to him, it was moments ago only two in the afternoon. He took his usual seat without a word.

Nailah was much closer to being appropriately dressed though maybe
still a little under-dressed for the room. She's sitting at one of the tables, turning over the place-card in her hand.

Samantha was once again dressed
fairly conservatively with not a hair out of place in
her up-do as she walked into the room. She offered a faint smile to Nailah, who she at least recognized, before going to look for her place card.

Steve glanced quietly at the gathering guests, especially at the new face.
"Hey," he said to Nailah, "New arrival huh?"

"Yes." she says, quirking an eyebrow. "Why do you make that sound so peculiar?"

"Hello." Amanda said, a bit nervously as she took a seat at the table.

"Evening," she said to the unfamiliar woman as she found her seat.
"Seems their guest list is a bit sparse," she said as she looked to the upturned chairs.

He shrugged. "Just don't see new people very often."

His parents must work here... "Apparently so." she glances around.
"And good evening. I'm Nailah Weaver." she introduces herself to Steve and Amanda.

"Steve Jones," he responded in a friendly tone, very unlike how he spoke to the staff. No other place-cards at the table read Jones.

"Samantha McManus," she mentioned for the benefit of those she hadn't met yet.

He gave Samantha an odd look. Hadn't he met her before?

"Something wrong?" She asked, as she looked idly about for the wait staff.

She shrugged.
"This will be my first night here."

He glanced around conspiratorially and, seeing the coast was clear, leaned forward.
"Keep a light on. You'll thank me in the morning."

Nailah looks like she's about to ask something when they're interrupted by a waiter serving soup. Afterwards she seems to have forgotten, instead just making small-talk.
"Your parents work here then?" she asks Steve.

"Aren't you a little old to be afraid of the dark?" She gave a faint smirk before looking to her soup.

"Work here?" he answered Nailah with a hint of disgust at the idea, "Just here on vacation."
He gave Sam a look that somehow seemed to say that it wasn't the dark he was worried about.

"Amanda Weinrich." she said "I got here a little while ago. My car broke down, and they said it won't be fixed until tomorrow."

"The only thing that's a bit off is the choice in paintings, but I can't fault the amenities one bit."

"For some reason, every bloody painting seems to have wolves in it. It's a little too clever by half, but what can you do?"
