Miranda retreated to her parents' apartment after the day's festivities. She fixed herself a glass of juice and just stood in the kitchen, the glass of juice still resting on the counter as she stared off into the distance, just enjoying both the physical and psychic quiet.

Stepping into the room Nailah watches Miranda for a moment, letting her enjoy the peace and quiet before she disrupts it.
"Taking bit of a break from the crowd?" she asks after a while.

Miranda dragged herself back to the present, "Yes. Just a little... peopled out. A lot of new minds bouncing around, adding to the possibilities of the future. It's kind of a double whammy."

"It can be tough." she nods. "Things are very chaotic out there right now. It'll settle down soon enough. It helps to try and see crowds as a whole, not all the individual pieces too."

"Sort of like zooming out?" She finally took a sip of her juice.

"I suppose that's one way to describe it. Focus on how the crowd is going to affect you or any other singular thing."

"I'm fairly sure I'm aware of how the crowd was affecting me," she said with a small chuckle. "I'm not entirely sure I'm ready for school to start again either."

"I'm well prepared to torture everybody with tedious literary analysis again." she smirks faintly.

"You did seem to take great pride in that last semester. Hopefully you won't frighten too many off."

"A certain amount of English is mandatory in high school, so there's no escape for them or for me."

"Well, you're almost rid of me English class-wise," she said with a smile, "So that's one less thing for you to worry about."

"I like to think I've been doing a fair job in treating you the same as the other students, though I'm sure there are some who would disagree. Despite the fact that your drawings are much better than your literary skills." she smirks.

"We can't all be poetic oracles," she laughed. "And you have been fair... maybe a bit harsher than I would have liked, but mostly fair."

"We all have our talents. And all things considered you've been doing remarkably well."

"It's all anyone can ask for. Going beyond ourselves is usually reserved for the things we truly care about."

Miranda nods, maybe a little soberly. "Yeah. Hopefully there's less call for that above and beyond this year."

"There's only so much anyone can do. And if they try again, I'm better equipped to handle myself now. But I do appreciate it."

"No one here has to stand alone. It was a surprisingly hard lesson for me to learn and I hope you'll be smarter about that than your mom." she smiles a bit ruefully.

"I'm never really alone," she said with a smile, "One of the things I inherited from Mum."

"I've already seen what happens when a daughter of mine forgoes asking for help and thinks she has to take matters into her own hands. And it looks very much like things that I have done that weren't particularly great, so please don't think that even a multitude of you shouldn't ask for help, okay?" she smiles.

Miranda frowned at the mention of Aria. "Point taken."

"I can't condemn her for what she did, because it lead to you, but the least we can do is learn from past mistakes. Being able to even just see a future makes it very tempting to think that you know best."

"Past, future mistakes," she says, though there's a clear distaste for applying that term to herself. "And there's that headache again."

"No, she's not," Miranda said, 'staring' into her juice. "Can we talk about something else? I don't like the places she takes me."

"Yes, I'm sure leaving her here for 3 months made her grow fonder of her. You're the one she got to spend all summer with."

"Absence will do that," Miranda said. "I trust her... but, well, I don't peer into that future. I don't want to color what we have now with what might happen. And that's where the anxiety comes in." She seems to mentally wave the subject away, "Speaking on anxiety, you'll probably get a visit from one of the new university students who is terrified of Mum."

"Something about the Morrigan? And her sword Caledfwlch? She talks like she's out of one of those Shakespearean plays and not one of the dumb ones like Romeo and Juliet."

Nailah quirks an eyebrow. "Well then, that should prove to be interesting. Did she say where she was from?"

"Okay," she said with a shrug. "She said she had some valuables, gold and gems I think, that she wanted to convert to 'modern' currency. I told her you might be a good person to ask, since you know some finance people."

"Gold and gems? Well, at the very I should be able to keep her from going to the nearest pawn shop and getting ripped off."
