Issue 1 Downtime

Miranda stood outside the apartment door long enough that Nailah might get a premonition that it was happening. She was running over things in her head, trying to figure out what she would do or say if Sam was home.

After a while Nailah opens the door. "You know you can just come in here any time you want, right?" she smiles.

"Is Mum home?" She sounded apprehensive.

"Yes... I need to talk to you... maybe about Mum," she said, stepping past Nailah into the apartment.

She sat down and gathered herself for a moment, "I've had a couple of Astral visits from a red crow who calls himself Bodb Derg. He claims to know Mum."

"I suppose he might, in a way... What did he say to you?"

"Well, he seems to burn everything around him. He... well, he implied that that was Mum's fault."

"I don't know think was Sam's doing, but regardless, Bodb Derg is not good company and there's a reason he was made to burn."

"That's what my looking into him on my own seemed to indicate. He implied that Mum or whoever used to be Mum was less than happy with him and made him burn for it."

"We always have a choice. Sometimes they're not easy but something like that can't be forced on you purely by circumstance. Bodb Derg made a choice and I don't believe it is one he regrets. Don't let him poison your opinion of Sam."

Miranda looked like she was about to say something and there were at least a couple of immediate futures where she said something, but she ended up just shutting her mouth and slipping out the door.
