I12DT - Mellowed Out

Previously the lodgings of the late Lady Braddock, grandmother to Brian and Elizabeth, the Dower House fell into disuse for a number of years, particularly after Braddock Manor passed to Brian himself. Since the arrival of the University, it has been renovated into housing for faculty, staff, and students with special lodging needs.

I12DT - Mellowed Out

It's been a couple days since Nailah's trip with Raven and her classes have been, for lack of a better word, generous. Now she's sitting in her apartment, grading papers, handing out As and Bs all over.

"They did that well?" Samantha said, glancing over Nailah's shoulder with a quirked brow.

Samantha made contact with Nailah's mind gently, aiming to follow the surface thoughts of seeming guilt back to their source.

It seemed to lead back to a period of self-reflection; of her having been too hard on people. Nothing in particular.

The thoughts would appear a bit hazy, as if Nailah had been on drugs at the time.

Samantha sent the flock in to focus on that, as it didn't quite seem to be of the same clarity as its surroundings. She tried to sense if it had any connections leading elsewhere.

There was SOMETHING about a car-ride...and a passenger...

It wouldn't be 100% crystal clear, but Sam wasn't your average run of the mill telepath. She'd be able to, at least, put the pieces together.

She felt it out, using the flock to draw together the memories that had the same sense to them.

There weren't many others -- about ten minutes a few days previous to that, all in Cobweb, and about half an hour in a car. Almost nothing.

But those memories were fogged, as if Nailah had not been under her own control there.

Frustrated, she whirled the flock around the memories, aiming to pull the fog away from them.

As she's pulling it away Nailah's mind makes up details. And every time Sam tugs at the fog the details are different. They're clearly false memories, but they seem to be ones Nailah's mind comes up with by itself, trying to fill the gap.

Samantha tried a different tactic, attempting to follow that impulse back to the source.

The tell-tale footprints of a telepath entering her mind? They weren't there. Whatever was done, it was done externally. More like hypnosis.

Back in the physical world she sighed, and began to withdraw from Nailah's mind.
